Still, if you’re looking for the best iPhone projector, we found that the Kodak narrowly has the edge. And if you’re looking to spend a little less, the M1 Mini+ has its advantages over the Kodak. You can easily mistake the ViewSonic M1 Mini+ Ultra Portable Projector for the Kodak Luma 350 at first glance. Once connected, the Kodak Luma 350 is truly great because of its clear picture and crisp sound. However, we still chose it because you can skip the wireless setup, buy the Lightning to HDMI adapter and the setup is seamless. Even after we typed in our WiFi password, it did not want to play nice, with the wireless setup taking over an hour. Therein lies the rub - once we got it connected, we found that the Luma 350’s interface is maddening. But it was plenty bright in a dark setting, and the 1080p resolution came through well. The 150 lumens of brightness isn’t going to work in a partially lit room, but that’s not what small iPhone projectors are intended to do. The Kodak brand name on a small, very sturdy, ergonomically attractive unit like the Luma 350 had us thinking it might be a slam dunk.Īnd to be fair, once we got it up and running and connected it was a super high-quality experience. We wanted to love the Kodak Luma 350 all the way to the top of this list, and it’s so close to being the best iPhone projector for 2022. She saw public employees as a Brahmin class: In 1995, she told federal law enforcement officers, "You are part of a government that has given its people more freedom…than any other government in the history of the world." Thank you, Masters! In a 1996 speech to government prosecutors, she declared, "All of you public lawyers are but little lower than the angels, and I salute you." This is a Mount Sinai biography, treating whatever Janet Reno said as the word of God.įor Reno, government was always the avenging savior. Stiehm endlessly reminds readers that "Reno's first commitment was to truth" (italics in original). Such pandering will be the death of civil liberties. Her biography is the last place to seek the truth on one of America's most blood-stained attorneys general.įor Stiehm and much of the media, the fact that Janet Reno was a progressive and the first female attorney general absolved all her failures and abuses of power. What is the point of sending a 200-page love letter to a dead politician? That is just one of many questions that Stiehm, a retired professor of political science, fails to answer in a book whose style sometimes resembles Fun with Dick and Jane. You'll find almost nothing about Reno's failures and frauds in Judith Hicks Stiehm's new biography, Janet Reno: A Life. The Washington Post praised her for ensuring that not all journalists would be beaten during the raid, and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, in a piece headlined " Reno for President," declared that the machine-gun photo "warmed my heart." But Cuban Americans never forgot Reno's lies, and their fierce opposition torpedoed her 2002 Florida gubernatorial campaign. The aftermath of the González raid epitomized Janet Reno's career. But that Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun sprays 800 rounds a minute, and the agent didn't even have both hands on the weapon. She brushed off the photo: "If you look at it carefully, it shows that the gun was pointed to the side and that the finger was not on the trigger." Admittedly, the muzzle of the gun was not in the boy's mouth. Reno counted on maximum media deference for her "Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?" shtick. Her attempt to portray the federal assault as the equivalent of a Girl Scout cookie delivery was debunked by an Associated Press photo of a Border Patrol agent pointing his submachine gun toward the terrified boy being held by the fisherman who had rescued him from the Atlantic Ocean. Reno had authorized a massive no-knock raid to seize 6-year-old Elián González and send him back to Cuba, even though the court battles regarding his fate were ongoing. This was news to the people who had been brutalized by federal agents, including two NBC cameramen left writhing in pain from a stomach kick or a rifle butt to the head. It was a show of force that prevented people from getting hurt." "One of the things that is so very important," Reno declared, "is that the force was not used. In April 24, 2000, a day after Easter and two days after she sent 130 federal agents to storm Miami's Little Havana neighborhood, Attorney General Janet Reno received reverential treatment on NBC's Today show. These more agile hunters can easily vault up surfaces or scramble up walls with a few button presses. Most of these strengths I’ve mentioned are carried over from previous games in the series, but Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate changes things up by adding interesting vertical thinking to the already staggeringly deep combat system. Those aren’t the monsters I’m interested in hunting. The only times that threaten to break the cycle are a few dull missions that send you to collect eggs, mushrooms, or other raw materials. It’s a fun loop that’s kept fresh by smoothly increasing challenge, and a huge variety of opposition and weapon and gear types. That fight is completely different from going up against the returning gorilla monster Congalala, which uses brute-strength attacks and can cut farts that prevent you from healing.īeating those monsters rewards you with resources, which are then used to construct cool new weapons and armor to slay more monsters. The new lemur-like Kecha Wacha, for example, uses long arms to swing around stages and pop out to surprise unaware hunters. Each beast has a unique fighting style, and uses animated tells (instead of ugly health bars or icons) to allow you to stay out of harm’s way and counter attack if you react quickly. Monster Hunter is best described as a greatest-hits collection of boss encounters. Many of these cells we need, but ideally many of them we don’t. Among its other effects, doxorubicin inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II, slowing the rapid proliferation of cells. They took the castle soil to Milan, and found Streptomyces peucetius, the bright-red bacteria from which my treatment comes. Two centuries later, scientists harvested its dirt. In the seventeen-fifties, the Bourbons stripped out its marble. It was built in a rare octagonal shape, and later it became a prison, then a refuge during the plague. The castle had neither a moat nor a drawbridge, so few people believe that it was ever used as a fortress. Scientists discovered the drug known as the red devil near Castel del Monte, built by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II, in Italy, in the mid-thirteenth century. Doxorubicin is sometimes fatal to the heart a person can tolerate only a certain amount in a lifetime, and by the end of this treatment I will have reached half my limit. For several days after the drug is administered, my body’s fluids will be toxic to other people. The medicine is so powerful that if it were to leak into the body it could cause my tissues to die. When administering the medicine, the oncology nurse must dress in an elaborate protective costume and slowly push the doxorubicin through the port. Because our urine is full of toxins, the signs in the bathroom instruct patients to flush twice. We have poisonous vaginas and poisoned sperm. Blood from chemotherapy-induced nosebleeds drips on the sheets, the paperwork, the CVS receipts, the library books. Everything we were supposed to keep inside us now seems to fall out. The old seem infantile, the young act senile, the middle-aged find that all that is middle-aged about them disappears. The cancer pavilion is a cruel democracy of appearance: the same bald heads, the same devastated complexions, the same steroid-swollen faces, the same plastic ports visible as lumps under the skin. Because it is decided without ceremony that the doctors will eventually take my breasts from me and discard them in an incinerator, I begin the practice of pretending that my breasts were never there. Then I follow the other instructions I find on the Internet: tell my mother, tell my teen-age daughter, deep-clean the kitchen, negotiate with my employer, find someone to watch the cat, go to the thrift store to find clothes that will accommodate my coming chemo port, worry on the phone to my friends that I-a single working mother-have no one to take care of me. I take a screen capture of John Donne’s first devotion-the one that wonders what use it is to be an earth when earths are subject to earthquakes-and post it to Facebook: “We study health, and we deliberate upon our meats, and drink, and air, and exercises, and we hew, and we polish every stone that goes to that building and so our health is a long and a regular work but in a minute a cannon batters all.” It gets a lot of likes. No one knows you have cancer until you tell them. I hand the knife back to Cara damp with sweat. After all these theatrical prerequisites, what the surgeon says is what we already know: I have at least one cancerous tumor, 3.8 centimetres in diameter, in my left breast. In the United States, if you aren’t someone’s child or parent or spouse, the law does not guarantee you leave from work to take care of them.Īs Cara and I sit in the skylighted beige of the conference room, waiting for the surgeon to arrive, Cara gives me the small knife she carries in her purse so that I can hold on to it under the table. My friend Cara, who works for an hourly wage and has no time off, drives out to the suburban medical office on her lunch break so that I can get my diagnosis. She won’t give me the initial results of the biopsy if I am alone. The surgeon says the greatest risk factor for breast cancer is having breasts. I’ve just always hated it when anyone suffers alone. I didn’t need to build the temple for weeping, then, having been one. I cried every minute, whether I was sad or not, my self a mobile, embarrassed monument of tears. For months, my body’s sadness disregarded my mind’s attempts to convince me that I was O.K. Later, when I was sick, I was on a chemotherapy drug with a side effect of endless crying, tears dripping without agency from my eyes no matter what I was feeling or where I was. Upon arrival here it took about 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were even there in the building. Its a good place for kids who dont understand the value of a dollar, but for a parent, its a complete and utter RIP OFF!!! We would have already left if it wasnt for the $200 we had spent in wristbands, food, and arcade games. It took us a good half hour before we could even start playing. 3 different times I had to change my vest because they wouldnt work properly. After we wasted $30 in tokens, we went to Laser tag. Needless to say, the games are a complete waste and we would all be better off taking our kids to the dollar store and buying them toys from there rather than trying to win them cheaper versions from C.S. My youngest son who is 4 put tokens in a game and the same thing.NOTHING! My daughter put 4 tokens in a game that looks like the big wheel on the Price is Right and she won but the tickets didnt come out. When explaining this to an employee, he blew us off. I put 2 tokens in a skee ball game and NOTHING. I bought $30 worth of tokens to get them going. We arrived about 10:30 Saturday morning and it wasnt very busy so we started off with some arcade games. I took my family of 6 for one of my kids birthday. Made us feel very uncomfortable and made the experience unenjoyable Food was OK pretty slow service though and staff wasnt very friendly. We were going to play laser tag Lady in the front told us it was included with our wristbands when we went upstairs to do laser tag the man said you have to pay seven more dollars to play. Then we went inside and played arcade games arcade games were fun but pricey then the prizes were not much of a variety. Then we dated bungee jumping let me just start by saying this to make you feel very uncomfortable by making you stand on the scale and then the staff looks at it then points U2 a trampoline when I got laid she Chyna just looked up at me like I am. Go carts are the only reason this review is getting out to stores instead of one star go karts work great and were very fine. The pool remembered Roats was very dirty seven out of 15 bumper boats didnt work. First of all they dont require little ones to wear lifejackets so when I tried to tell my little cousin he need to wear lifejacket The lady working bumper boats didnt say anything. The first thing we did was go outside and do bumper boats. We bought our wristbands and carts equaling a total of $500 for just 10 people. The bathrooms were very dirty and staff definitely had the time to clean it as some staff was just sitting there. I need to go to the restroom really bad so once we got him I really ran as fast as I could to the bathrooms. So we came jn and we discovered a place that kind a looked rundown. So Im gonna give you a detailed explanation from start to finish what happened to make us not so much love this place. However, I think their management needs to be fired, frankly. When we did find employees to help us out, they were gracious and kind. He walks out and points at a person at the boats whom was definately not there previously, and the same for the following 3 attractions. On the way, he was radioing various employees to make sure they were there. He did so aggressively, showing his back to us, and walking much faster than I can take (I have a prosthetic leg). He did not want to give us our money back, and instructed that their were people there, and that he would walk us out to them. I politlely told him that I didnt want to say that he was lieing to us, but we just visited each attraction we were interested in, and not a soul out there. We were met by a manager who was completely rude to us, and told us that there was an attendant at every ride. They said all sales were final, so we asked for a manager. We explained nobody was out there in attendance of any of the attractions we were interested in, so we asked for our money back if we couldnt come back the following day. They said we had to ride everything same day. We thought it was weird for them to be so empty, so we asked if we could come back the following day. We went back inside to inquire about the closing time, and they said they will be closing in an hour and a half. There were a few attendants out by the gocarts, but that was it. After acquiring our card which had a 3 ride pass(6 rides total) for my gf and I, we went outside to check out the bumper boats, rock climbing, putt putt, bungee jump. She was sweet, and we managed to get through it. We could tell she was very untrained, and not prepared for customers. We spoke with a lady at the front counter about purchasing rides, and stuff to have some fun. We arrived approximately about 8:30 on sunday to have a simple quick date night. |
